Students want easy and fast transportation to get around campus. Companies want to reach the young and influential demographic. Our idea is to combine both through an innovative bicycle marketing concept so that everybody wins!
Part of being a FreeBiker is to share fun photos on social media in return for your free bike lease. We believe in quality over quantity and therefore only require one post per month. To keep it fun and unique, we prepare different themes every month, and if you post an extra cool photo you might get forever “immortalized” in our FreeBike Hall of Fame.
Cycling not only allows us to travel fast and conveniently, it also helps reduce our carbon footprint while strengthening our physical condition. Since 1990 cycling has more than doubled in the US, indicating a vast growth in environmental and health awareness. We want to take this one step further by promoting free cycling, eco-friendly marketing and charity (read below).
To improve the mobility in rural communities of developing countries, we have partnered with the non-profit Bikes For The World to help send bikes overseas. In doing so we help families gain access to water, food and education. Since the launch of our partnership, we have helped send 100+ bikes to high school students who live in remote villages, miles from the nearest school.
FreeBike Project is a creative solution for students! It provides a budget friendly form of quick flexible transportation around campus. The bike itself is an awesome single speed and through FreeBike Project, bike maintenance is really simply! Totally stress free. I definitely enjoy using my free bike! I recommend it to any student!
I can’t be more ecstatic about the FreeBike Project! Everyone always asks how I got my bike (because it’s an amazing bike) and I’m more than happy to tell them that I got it for free. All I’m really expected to do is enjoy it. The program is pure genius and I couldn’t be happier!
FreeBike Project is such an awesome organization, especially for college students who participate together. It has given my friend and I an excuse to get off campus to explore and test our creativity in new ways!
The FreeBike Project is awesome - it’s super convenient and made having a bike on campus affordable. The pictures can be as silly or creative as you want them to be, making the whole thing fun.
"When I learned that I could support one of my favorite local businesses, 23rd Street Café, and ride around on a brand-new beach cruiser for free, I was stoked!"
First, I as a Harvard college student can ride my bike to class, work, and all around campus. Second, companies get quite some attention from their ads (I’ve been approached several times by curious people). Third and best of all, the profits support transportation for students in remote places possible, which makes the project all the more meaningful.
Getting the bike was painless. All I had to do was pick it up on campus and then I had a bike to ride for the rest of the school year. The bike is so useful because I’m usually running late and the bike helps cut my travel time in half. I also think that the monthly Instagram “themes” to promote the bikes are really fun!
I needed a bike to get around campus, but most bikes were either ridiculously expensive or cheap but of poor quality. The people at FreeBike Project have found a way to provide high quality, low maintenance bikes for absolutely free. Had a breeze getting around campus this year. Glad I joined the FreeBike Movement.
